Joseph Hemingway. or woodezine. Carver of themonth for April 2004.made the news again in: Hudderfield, West Yorkshire, England.

Joseph is an Incredible Relief Carver, in the: Chippendale Tradition. A few weeks ago he answered an appeal by the local newspaper for infomation about a visit to the Town in the 60s by famous Artist, S L Lowry.

I was 23 years old in 1965, working for:Taylor & Hobson Ltd, 27,Chapel Hill, Huddersfield.as a Joureyman Carver, Cabinetmaker, Furniture Restorer. I was out shopping for the "Snaps" (a local word for food) for the workmen at: The Cabinet  Works. when I spotted ' Lowry 'sat at the top of Chapel Hill, sketching. I had just walked past 'This aging Artist'  without noticing the man? Note I read about him that evening in a report in the local newspaper after reading that he was commotion by Huddersfield Corporation, for £25,000. his fee.

So the next day I asked for a peep at his work? Lowry looked me up and down? asking are you a Baker lad? I reply No? a Cabinetmaker. So he uncovered his work in progress?Note:  I glanced at it? Note: to reply? Sir with no disrespect? They are only Match stick images? He rose to his feet  Stating? I'm the master here lad.

my cabinet job at: Taylor & Hobson Ltd, was a large quontity of Thomas Chippendale Chairs & other Rococo  Furniture, which was desin for: The newley formed :Chippendale Soceity.now housed in: Tempel Newsom House, Leeds. the guy: Delivering and Collecting these goods?
